BEC Awarded Bronze for QR SAFE Innovation

We’re excited to share that our QR SAFE initiative has won a Bronze Medal at the WSH Innovation Award 2025, organised by WSH Council and ASPRI Singapore!

Why does this matter?

In heavy lifting, not knowing a component’s exact weight and the centre of gravity (COG) can lead to lifting failure, safety risks, and delays. These risks are preventable with the right information provided by the latest digital technologies.

Our commitment

QR Safe is a key innovation and digitisation initiative that significantly improves workplace safety and emphasises our commitment to a safe working environment.

The result

Informed decisions. Safer operations. With just a scan, lifting crews get the exact specs they need, reducing risk, improving clarity, and keeping everyone on site safer.

At the heart of this innovation is Mr Muchamad Arief Rahman, a Safety Practitioner and pillar of safety in our company for almost a decade. He’s seen our practices evolve, from handwritten logs to digital systems, and now he’s leading one of our most promising safety tools yet: QR SAFE. This feature uses QR codes to share load information on construction components instantly.

One scan. Real-time specs. Safer lifts.

Together with Mr Meikel Sihombing (Production Manager) and Mr Winco Ho (Regional Safety Manager), with support from Contracts Manager Mr Chia Wee Soon, Mr Rahman helped develop a solution that’s simple, effective, and easy to adopt. QR SAFE provides lifting crews with real-time access to production specifications, weight data, and the COG right at the point of work.

This initiative is part of our broader push to implement smart, fit-for-purpose digital tools that improve safety and efficiency without adding complexity.
