We are thrilled to announce that China Harbour (Singapore) Engineering Company has awarded BEC a significant contract for internal steelwork at the National Environment Agency’s cutting-edge Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) in Singapore, underscoring our commitment to advancing sustainable infrastructure solutions in the region.
The IWMF is designed to maximise energy and resource recovery by processing a diverse range of waste streams, including 5,800 tonnes per day of incinerable waste, 250 tonnes per day of household recyclables from the National Recycling Programme (NRP), 400 tonnes per day of source-segregated food waste, and 800 tonnes per day of dewatered sludge from the Tuas Water Reclamation Plant (TWRP).
Design, Fabrication and Erection of Internal Steelwork
BEC’s scope of work involves the design, fabrication and erection of the internal steelwork, including the steel flues for the emission control system. Selection of materials, including acid corrosion resistant plate and galvanised steel, has been made to suit operating conditions. Steel erection will be performed using a tower crane and BEC’s innovative asymmetric lifting system, which utilises single-strand jacks to optimise the lifts.
Ahead of this transformational project, BEC is proud to contribute to Singapore’s flagship facility, supporting its mission to establish sustainable and affordable waste management solutions. Through our expertise in steelwork erection, we ensure that the facility’s critical infrastructure is designed and installed efficiently and to the highest standards of safety and quality.
Stay tuned for updates as we work towards enhancing Singapore’s waste management infrastructure with innovation and sustainability at its core!
