In the expansive landscape of Saudi Arabia, Rabigh Power Company (RPC) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless functioning of the Rabigh Independent Water Steam Power Producer (IWSPP) within the Rabigh Complex, a cornerstone of Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical’s joint venture.

Maintaining optimal operational efficiency demands meticulous asset management, robust operations, and proactive maintenance. Securing a highly efficient and specialized contractor capable of guaranteeing operational excellence through comprehensive stack inspections was imperative.

Challenges

The project faced familiar challenges, marked by a tight schedule and budget constraints. Additionally, the emergence of the COVID-19 lockdown further complicated the execution of inspection and maintenance works, demanding a resilient approach.

BEC's Approach

BEC, recognised for its prowess in industrial solutions, was entrusted with the inspection and maintenance of three towering 95 m steel stacks. The scope included a meticulous visual inspection of internal borosilicate block lining, external scrutiny of steel flues and frames, examination of flue support points, and assessment of access structures such as ladders and platforms. Furthermore, the inspection covered electrical components like aircraft warning lights, lighting systems, cables, and lightning conductor systems. The project also involved the strategic replacement of borosilicate blocks, renewal of continuous emission monitoring system (CEMS) tubing, and servicing of aircraft warning lights.
